Single stitch this single stitch that, but what really is single stitch? During the 80's & 90's the most common way of manufacturing t-shirts in the USA was with a single stitch, not the dual or double row stitch most garments have today. Where can this single stitch be found? On the hem edges on sleeve cuffs! Single stitching does not necessarily mean that your piece is vintage, but you sure do have the odds with you.
However, if you really want to know if your single stitched t-shirt is vintage you can in most cases also tell by the feel of the fabric. A thinner fabric with an almost silk-like feel (kind of at least) that rarely creases.
Single stitched t-shirts often hold a higher value than others, making them more sought after, and so we wish you the best of luck on your journey to find your gem!
